I take an all encompassing approach to languages as symbolic systems, and by the end of the course you’ll have a much better understanding of what language really is and how many interesting mini langauges are out there for you to learn.

In addition, you’ll learn something called metalanguage, which is a language that specifically helps you learn any foreign language you want.

This course is ideal for those coming from another language and who want to get up-to-speed quickly.

You will be taken on a journey through the fundamental concepts of the Java language and given the knowledge necessary to write your own Java application. You will learn about flow control by using loops, decision logic, and exception handling; you will learn how to manipulate data and store it in a data structure. Once you are comfortable using these constructs, you’ll learn how to structure classes and design applications using object-oriented concepts.
