for students who want to learn more about art and design from centuries ago to present day and beyond.

This course will be designed in a way that all students can enjoy it, however it is necessary to have a basic knowledge of art and design.

This course introduces the most influential art and design movements of the twentieth century, including modernism,

post-modernism, constructivism, surrealism and feminism. Students will

gain a basic knowledge of the history of art and design, which will able them to recognize periods and authors by just looking some art or design work.

Students will be able to distinguish between old masters like Renaissance masters and modern masters like Picasso.

gives students an understanding of the role that art and design play in society,

and the history behind what artists were doing during specific periods. Students

will gain this understanding through excerpts from their readings, lectures and discussion.
